SYDA CHARITIES
News about SYDA’s chosen charities over the years and the funds raised by the members.
The charity chosen at the AGM for the 2025/26 year from 5th April 2025 is Cancer Research UK.
The Cancer Research charity has funds added throughout the year from the various meets & THS’s. The funds are raised by many different ways including book sales, raffles, Donations etc.
The Ripon meet in October 2025 alone raised: £362 at the Harvest Festival auction. £205 from the raffle and £45.50 from the Race Night.
With all donations included, the total raised at the meet was £629.50.

Cancer research will be the chosen SYDA charity until the AGM on 28.3.26 when another charity may be chosen for the 2026/27 period
The charity SYDA supported from 6th May 2024 until 5th April 2025 was
THE ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION. (RNLI)
SYDA raised a £2089.51 total for the R.N.L.I. in the 2024/25 season.
On the Spring Bank Holiday in May 2025, Connor Swift, Dave Swift, Roy Alderson and other SYDA committee and members attended at the Whitby Lifeboat station to present the £2089.51 cheque to the RNLI.
Staff from the station were present and the cheque was presented to Neil, who was grateful for the donation on behalf of the RNLI.

Once again, SYDA members should be proud of their achievement in raising this money for a deserving charity.

Money generated at the May Day Meet 2024
A staggering £246.30 was collected at the May Day meet 2024 for the RNLI by donating goods for auction and buying raffle tickets.
AND THERE'S MORE.....
A further £116 was raised for the RNLI during the meet by donations made to, and sales from, the charity table in the booking in tent.
That makes the grand total £362. (This was included in the final total presented to the RNLI in May 2025..)

The two charities shown below received cheques at the AGM on 6th April 2024...
£2921.69. was raised by SYDA in 2023/24 for
The Childrens Air Ambulance.
This cheque was presented to Cherry Crane who thanked SYDA on behalf of her charity.
Another smaller amount raised was also passed to the charity after the presentation.

The attached Thank You letter and recognition certificate were received from the Childrens Air Ambulance thanking SYDA for the donation of £2921.69 handed over to the charity at the 2024 AGM.
A total of £2533.43. was raised by SYDA in 2022/23 for
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
This cheque was handed to Karina Tape who thanked SYDA on behalf of the charity.
