Feedback from the:
Yorkshire Region Meet. Wetherby. 27-30 June 2024

Mardi Gras Parade Winners: South Yorkshire DA
Roz & Eileen and all the SYDA team would like to thank all the mums, dads, Nannas, grandads (+ the great nannas and Grandads) and all the children that took part in the Yorkshire Region Meet Mardi Gras parade. This includes all of the hard working people that helped to put on such a good show by making the costumes and those adults and children that were brave enough to wear the costumes.
It was great to see that we had such a great bunch of talented people getting together to put on such a great show.

You made SYDA the winning group so a BIG THANK YOU to everybody that was involved.

There was plenty of action in the Sports games with several people joining in.  Here are the details in our Chairmans update below. (Originally posted on Facebook, Edited for the Website)

Well what can I say, we’ve all done our amazing South Yorkshire DA proud. I am over the moon with our achievements this weekend and I’d like to say thank you to everyone that got involved with any of the sports, the Madis Gras, or of our 50+ block booking which made us the most attended DA in the Yorkshire Region. A huge thank you to Eileen and Roz for running the Mardis Gras this year.

📸 If you have any photos of this weekend, please comment them (on Connor D Swift's Facebook post or email them to sydawebmaster@gmail.com) so we can put an album together on Facebook and the website! I’ll already steal the ones already posted. (on Facebook) I know that Mark Turner will have lots to post over the coming days.

Just to list our achievements this weekend:

Open Age Football Winners 🏆 (2 years in a row)

Walking Football Winners 🏆 (3 years in a row)

Men’s Tug o’ War Winners 🏆 (2 years in a row)

Ladies Tug o’ War Runners Up 🥈

Walking Football Runners Up 🥈 (All SYDA Final)

Oh, and one chairman with a lost voice!! 🗣️

We didn’t manage to retain the U12’s football trophy but we had 3 teams of U12’s that were all bar 1 SYDA U12’s, which I think is a huge achievement in itself!

🔢 And for the first time for a long time, we entered a team into every sport! We had 3 teams in all football competitions, 2 teams in the men’s tug o’ war, and a team in everything else. How good is that!?

Just as a little debrief on the sports:

⚽️ In the open age football, we played Sheffield DA for the third year in a row in the final, after beating the CCY and Leeds DA to get there. In the first year against Sheffield in the final, we narrowly lost to 1 goal, last year we won on penalties, and this year we won the game 3-1. What a game that was. Sheffield beat SYDA C team to get to the final.

⚽️ In an all SYDA final in the walking football, SYDA A took on SYDA B. The A team prevailed but it was a great game with lots of goals.

🪢 The Tug o’ War was won by the men beating CYDA in the final 2-0. They also beat the “Chris Wood” team and the North East team to get there.

🪢 Our Ladies Tug o’ War team went straight into the final against an ever strong Leeds DA team, who eventually won but we didn’t make it easy for them!

🏐 For the first time playing Volleyball competitively (and in general for the most of the team), we won the first game against Sheffield DA blue team and put up a strong game, but eventually losing to “cobbled together”.

🏐 And our Netball team lost in the first round to eventual winners Leeds DA.

📣 Thank you to everyone who joined in, cheered, and shouted for us this year.

We’re coming for more next year!
